The Granite State 10 Smiler runs through the rolling and beautiful suburbs of northeast Concord, NH. It starts and ends near Grappone Hall on the NHTI Campus in Concord, NH. Overall, the course is flat to uphill in the first half and downhill in the second half. The most challenging hill is at about the midpoint of the race.
Runners can register for the full 10 miles or as a 5-mile relay team. Relayers will be will be shuttled by bus to the halfway point and back to the finish.
The free kids run will take place on NHTI's Fan Road directly in front of Grappone Hall and will occur while all of the runners are out along the course. This road will be closed to vehicles.
At the start, runners head south for a short loop on Fan Road before heading back north and crossing Institute Drive onto a paved path. The path which is less than a mile long crosses over the Merrimack River and ends at Eastman Street. The race continues on Eastman Street then left on Mountain Road past Shawmut Street. There will be police support in the Mountain Road area. The course turns right on Shaker Road for about two miles before turning left on Snow Pond Road. Both the midpoint of the race and the highest elevation are on Snow Pond Road. Runners turn right when Snow Pond Road crosses Shaker and head to the finish via the same route as before.
Water and port-o-potties will be stationed at the Shaker Road School. Runners will pass this spot at almost the 3 and 8 mile marks on the course. Water will also be available at about mile 5.5.
